The Akron Area Association for the Education of Young Children is the recognized authority in Early Childhood Education in Summit, Portage and Medina counties, helping to ensure quality programs for young children, birth to age eight. In existence for over 50 years, the AAAEYC has steadily grown to its current membership of over 250. Our Vision: AAAEYC strives to lead and consolidate the efforts of individuals and groups working to achieve healthy development and constructive education for all young children. Our Mission: AAAEYC's mission is to serve and act on behalf of the needs, rights and well-being of all young children and their families in Summit, Portage and Medina counties of Ohio with a special emphasis on developmental and educational services and resources; and to foster the growth and development of the membership in their work with and on behalf of young children.

NEW Check out this new website Build Ohio and see what the Governor's new Early Childhood Cabinet is doing as they work to develop a comprehensive, well integrated early childhood system. Here is a really exciting new web site find. Not only are there lots of finger plays listed but they have a theme index AND have YouTube videos of librarians doing many of them. Some were even recorded during story times with children. Many thanks to King County Library System for sharing this wonderful resource. Child AbuseWatch.net is a great resource center for learning more about child abuse and prevention. Read the Child Abuse section and you will know more about protecting a child from abuse than 95% of the people you meet today; tomorrow, or the next day. Thanks to Beth Cardina from Summit County Juvenile Court for recommending this site. Early Learning Content Standards - Remember ODE is no longer printing these so save the ones you have. If you need some you can find them here to print.
